Best Bet Weather is a free weather website. It has no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising and no analytics or tracking, and it sets no cookies of its own. We do not sell, rent or share personal information, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

What Stays on Your Device

To remember your settings and make the page load faster, the site saves some information in your own browser (local storage and IndexedDB), for example your home place, the last place you looked at, your display choices, and recent forecasts for the places you viewed. This information stays on your device; it is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Your Location

If you tap "My location", your browser asks for your permission first. Your position is used in your browser to find the forecast for that spot. It is rounded to about 1 km and sent, as described below, to the weather services that supply the forecast. We do not store your location on our servers. The place you are viewing also appears in the page address so you can bookmark or share it.

Contact Form

If you use the Contact page, we receive what you type: your message and, if you choose, a name and an email address for a reply. We use it only to read and answer your message. Messages are kept in our storage at Cloudflare for up to one year and then deleted automatically, or sooner when we delete them. To limit spam, we keep a one-way code made from your internet address for one day; the address itself is not stored. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the form is sent by a person; it runs only on the Contact page.

Services Your Browser Contacts

To show forecasts, maps and observations, your browser requests data directly from public weather and map services. Like any website, each of these services receives your IP address, your browser type and the place or map area being requested, and handles it under its own privacy policy:

• Weather data: NOAA and the National Weather Service, Open-Meteo, MET Norway, the Iowa Environmental Mesonet (Iowa State University), NOAA Regional Climate Centers (ACIS), NASA POWER, and NOAA open radar data on Amazon Web Services.
• Spam check on the Contact page: Cloudflare Turnstile.
• Page files: icons, map software and fonts from Cloudflare's cdnjs, jsDelivr and Google Fonts.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses and may run automatic security checks on visitors. These checks may store one small security cookie from Cloudflare (cf_clearance) in your browser; it is used only to tell people from automated traffic. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details. We do not use this information to identify visitors.

Children

The site is for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top will change too.
